Mai Chau, a rural district of Hoa Binh province in the northwestern of Vietnam, is about 160 km far from Ha Noi. The scenery of Mai Chau which is well known for its stilt houses attracts many tourists. The type of stilt houses, or pile dwellings, they construct are called Thai stilt houses and are made of bamboo and timber. These houses are elevated 10–12 feet off the ground in order to avoid water damage and shelter animals from the elements.

ITINERARY:

7.30 – 8.00: We will pick you up at your hotel and transfer to Mai Chau. The road will slowly weave itself through mountains, fertile valleys and traditional villages.

12.00: Arrive Mai Chau, enjoy local style lunch in a Thai traditional stilt house.

13.00: Take a ride by bike with local tour guide, see farmers working in fields, locals weaving scarves and visit surrounding peaceful villages.

15.30: Return to Hanoi and drop off at your hotel around 19.00.
